This Privacy Policy (Policy) describes how we, the related entities operating JoyU (JoyU , we, usor our) collect, use, disclose and retain personal information about individuals who interact with each website, mobile site, application, marketing campaign, event, email, newsletter and other online or offline activities, offerings or publications that link or reference this Policy (collectively, the Services). This Policy also describes the rights you may have under applicable local law regarding our processing of your personal information.

By accessing or using any of our Services, you acknowledge and agree that your personal information will be processed as described in this Policy. Your use of the Services and any disputes regarding privacy are subject to this Policy and our User Agreement, including their applicable limitations of liability and dispute resolution. The JoyU User Agreement is incorporated into this Policy by reference.

 

1. Categories of Personal Information We Collect About You

Personal information is information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked directly or indirectly to you. Depending on the services you use, we may collect the following categories of personal information about you directly from you, automatically through your use of the services, and from third parties.

 

Clipboard permission: Used to copy user IDs and for use in share invitation scenarios. The clipboard is only accessed in the aforementioned scenarios and no irrelevant information is collected.

Photo album access: Used to send photos during chats and upload photos when posting status updates. This permission requires active action and does not automatically access or upload device photos.

Audio recording permission: Used to record audio during video chats or private chats. This permission is only available when the audio feature is enabled. Recording is prohibited without authorization.

Camera permission: Used to record video during video chats. This permission is only available when the camera feature is enabled. Recording is prohibited without authorization.

Bluetooth permission: To support Bluetooth headset calls, devices below Android 12 require temporary location permission to assist in discovering Bluetooth devices (this is a system technical limitation). This permission is only used for pairing Bluetooth devices and does not collect or upload your location information.

Push notification permission: Used to send you message reminders, event notifications, and other service-related content. You can disable this permission in your device settings.

App detection permissions: To enable sharing, the device will detect whether the "WhatsApp" app is installed. To enable payment, the device will detect whether the "com.android.vending" (i.e., the Google Play Store) app is installed. App detection is only used to verify the installation status of the corresponding apps to ensure that sharing and payment functions are enabled. It does not access any data or information from these apps (including but not limited to account information, usage history, cached content, etc.). Permissions are strictly used based on necessity.

Identifiers, such as your name, signature, postal address, zip code, email address, telephone number, unique online identifier, IP address, user ID, device ID, or similar identifiers.

Protected classifications under applicable law, such as your gender, age ( over 18 years), marital status, nationality, and country of origin.

Commercial information, such as your purchase, registration, login, and service usage history.

Payment records, such as your financial account information, credit card number, debit card number, or other payment card information, as necessary for the Services.

Internet or other electronic network activity, such as your browser type and operating system; browsing history, clickstream data, search history on the Services, and information about your interactions with Internet websites, applications, emails, newsletters or advertisements, including access logs and other activity information related to your use of our Services; the length of your visits to our Services; and the referring URL or website or application that directed you to our Services.

Geolocation data, such as the general physical location of your device.

Audio, electronic, visual, thermal, olfactory, or similar information, such as audio recordings, video recordings, physical characteristics or descriptions, and photographs.

Professional information, such as occupation, employment history, professional contact information, education history, or other information you provide in connection with the Services.

Inferences, such as those drawn to create a profile reflecting your preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, or capacities.

Sensitive personal information as defined by applicable local law, such as certain characteristics of the protected classifications listed above, account login credentials and passwords, and financial account information, credit card number, debit card number or other payment card information.

Information We Collect Directly from You. We collect personal information directly from you when you use our Services, such as when you provide us information online or at in-person events (for example, by entering a contest, submitting a survey, uploading or otherwise providing content or comments). If you register for an account or set up a profile through our Services, we may collect your name, login credentials and password information, phone number, postal address, email address, and information about your age, gender, or preferences (such as whether you want to receive newsletters). If you make a purchase through our Services, we may collect your financial account information, credit card number, debit card number, or other payment card information. If you contact us, we may collect information such as your name, email address, social media handle, the contents of messages or attachments you may send to us, and other information you choose to provide. We may also collect information you provide about other people, such as when you purchase one of our products as a gift.

 

Information We Collect from Other Sources. We collect your personal information from other sources, such as third-party consumer data vendors/distributors, data enrichment providers and aggregators, advertising networks, data analytics providers, internet service providers, operating systems and platforms, data brokers, social networks, business contact databases, government entities, other users, and our parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, and other related entities.

 

Social Network Integration. If you choose to interact with us on a social networking service or use features such as plug-ins, widgets, or other tools provided by third-party social networking services, we may collect Personal Information that has been provided to those services, including Personal Information about your contacts on those services. For example, some social networking services allow you to push content from our services to your contacts or extract information about your contacts so that you can connect with them on or through our services. Some social networking services will also facilitate your registration for our services or enhance or personalize your experience on our services.

 

Information We Collect Automatically. We and our third-party business partners automatically collect personal information when you use our Services using cookies, pixel tags, clear GIFs, or similar technologies. 2. How we use your information and the basis on which we use it

 

We use the above categories of personal information for the following business and commercial purposes:

 

Provide our Services and fulfill your requests. We use your information to provide and maintain our Services, process and fulfill your requests or orders, communicate with you about your use of our Services, respond to your inquiries, and for other customer service and business administration purposes.

To improve our Services. We use your information to understand and analyze our user base and how you use the Services, to improve and enhance the Services, and to develop new products, services, features, and functionality.

Identification and Authentication Purposes. We may use your information for identification and authentication purposes. For example, when you enter your login ID and / or password to enter our registration or login portal, we will use your credentials and password for authentication purposes.

Personalization. We use your information to tailor content and information we may send or display to you, to provide location customization, to deliver personalized offers, to personalize help and instructions, and to otherwise personalize your experience while using the Services.

Marketing and Promotional Purposes. We may use your information to send you news and newsletters, event updates, and to communicate with you about new features, events, or products offered by us or our third-party business partners (including our advertising, marketing, and sponsorship clients). We may also use your information to gather broad demographic information, analyze trends, find compatible advertisers, sponsors, clients, and customers, and track usersmovements around the Services and the Internet or elsewhere or across applications or devices. Your general geolocation data may be used specifically to display content (including advertisements and sponsored messages) to you based on your general geographic location. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your prior consent before using your personal information for marketing and promotional purposes.

Combining Information. We (and our third-party business partners) may combine, commingle or otherwise combine information, including your Personal Information, to facilitate the Purposes described above.

Comply with legal obligations. We may use your information where we deem necessary to comply with our legal obligations, or to exercise or defend our rights or the rights of third parties, including to comply with requests from law enforcement or government authorities and to participate in compliance audits.

To protect us and others. We may use your information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected or actual illegal activities, fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, or otherwise to enforce this Policy or the integrity of the Service.

De-identified Data. We may also de-identify or anonymize your data in a manner that we or other parties cannot reasonably re-identify your data, and we may use such de-identified data for any purpose permitted by applicable law. To the extent we de-identify any data that was initially based on personal information, we will maintain and use such data in de-identified form and will not attempt to re-identify the data.

Performance of a Contract: We process personal information where necessary to perform our contractual obligations to you. For example, to provide services to you, including when you make a purchase, enter a sweepstakes, register for an event or conference, or conduct another transaction with us.

Comply with legal obligations: We process personal information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation to which we are subject. For example, cooperating with public and government authorities, courts or regulators in accordance with our legal obligations, and to the extent this requires processing or disclosing personal information to protect our rights.

Legitimate Interests: We process your Personal Information where necessary to serve our legitimate business interests. For example, to ensure we can effectively manage and communicate about our business, conduct investigations or compliance audits, tailor content and information we may send or display to you, improve the Services, exercise or defend our rights, and for business administration purposes. When we use Personal Information to meet our legitimate interests, and where required by applicable local law, we take steps to ensure that your rights are protected. Consent: Where required by applicable law, we process personal information based on your consent. To the extent we have obtained your consent to process your personal information, you may have the right to withdraw your consent under applicable local law. To exercise this right, please contact us using the details in the Contact Ussection of this Policy. If you appear in content submitted to the Services, we may require the person submitting the content to obtain your consent.

 

3. How We Disclose Information We Collect

 

We may disclose each of the above categories of personal information for business and commercial purposes as follows:

 

Related Entities. We may disclose the personal information we collect about you to our parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, and related entities.

Service Providers. We may disclose the personal information we collect about you to service providers, contractors and agents who perform functions and business operations on our behalf for the purposes described above. For example, we employ service providers to help us with technical maintenance, database management, fraud prevention, market research, community and forum management, auctions, e-commerce, listing leasing, data cooperative management, audience identity verification, our product and product recommendations and other advertising and marketing functions, as well as credit/debit card or other payment processing, order fulfillment, credit pre-authorization and address verification.

Third Parties. We may disclose personal information we collect about you through areas of the Service that are managed or participated in by one or more third-party business partners. We may also disclose personal information we collect about you to third-party business partners, such as (i) list buyers who market their goods and services (commonly referred to as list rentals); (ii) our advertising, marketing, and sponsorship clients who market their goods and services; (iii) data cooperatives,which are aggregated databases containing customer information from multiple publishers to enable participating publishers to market use of such customer information; (iv) consumer data vendors/distributors, data enrichment providers and aggregators, and other entities in the online behavioral advertising ecosystem for the purposes of OBA (as described in this Policy), data optimization, lead generation, and other data-driven projects; (v) social media and social networking services; (vi) companies that help us provide products and product recommendations; and (vii) attorneys, auditors, accountants, consultants, and other professional advisors.

We may also disclose your personal information in the following circumstances:

 

Business Transfers. If (i) we or our affiliates are or might be acquired by, merged with, or invested in by another company, or (ii) if any of our assets are or might be transferred to another company, whether as part of an insolvency or bankruptcy proceeding or otherwise, we may transfer the information we have collected about you to the other company. As part of the business transfer process, we may disclose certain information about you to lenders, auditors, and third-party advisors (including attorneys and consultants).

Responding to Legal Process. We may disclose your personal information when we believe it is necessary to comply with the law, a judicial proceeding, a court order, or other legal process, such as in response to a court order or subpoena.

We believe it is appropriate to disclose your personal information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, violations of our User Agreement or this Policy, or as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.

Aggregate and De-identified Information. We may disclose aggregate, anonymized or anonymous information about you for any purpose permitted by applicable law.

Consent. We may disclose your personal information with your consent.

 

4. Our use of cookies and related technologies

Cookies/Local Device Storage. The Service will from time to time place and/or store code or other types of information and/or software, such as cookies, local shared objects, and HTML5 (collectively, Local Device Storage) on your device or browser. We and third-party business partners may independently or jointly use Local Device Storage in connection with the Service to collect Personal Information for the purposes described in their respective privacy policies, including, but not limited to, determining whether you have seen a particular advertisement before on the same or a different device, and by collecting data to track individual usersmovements through the Service and elsewhere on the Internet and across unaffiliated websites, applications, and devices, to control and tailor the display of advertisements based on your perceived preferences, as well as to help diagnose server problems, to gather broad demographic information, to conduct research, to deliver editorial content, to record registrations and personalization information, to inform us of offers that may be made to you, and to otherwise administer the Service. For example, if you register with any portion of the Service and are given the option to save your username and password, we may provide that convenience to you through Local Device Storage.

You can disable local device storage. If you do not want local device storage, the settings menu in your device, browser, or application may include an option that allows you to not accept it. However, if you disable local device storage, some parts of the Services may not function properly.

Tracking Technologies. In addition to Local Device Storage, we and/or our third-party business partners may use web beacons, web bugs, internet or pixel tags, clear GIFs, digital fingerprints (also known as machine identifiers), and similar technologies (collectively, Local Device Storage, Tracking Technologies) on the Services, including in our communications with you, such as emails and text messages, in-app push notifications, videos, and throughout your use of the Services. We and our third-party business partners use Tracking Technologies to determine which messages a recipient has opened and to use Local Device Storage for all or some of the lawful purposes listed above. Do Not Track (DNT). Your browser settings may allow you to automatically transmit Do Not Track (DNT) signals to websites and online services that you visit. There is no consensus on what DNT means in this context, and because some browsers apply DNT signals by default, this does not necessarily reflect our visitorschoices as to whether they wish to receive ads tailored to their interests. Therefore, like many websites, we do not alter our practices when the Services receive a DNT signal from a visitors browser. As described below, you can opt-out of the use of your Personal Information for online behavioral advertising by third parties at any time.

Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Similar Privacy Preference Signals. Where required by applicable local law, and as further described in the Your Privacy Choices and Rights; Submitting Requests Under Applicable Local Lawsection below, we honor user-initiated browser-based opt-out preference signals recognized under applicable local law, such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) .
